Fur Faux Pas, Are You Fur-real.

fur

Ok so those who know and love me know I love my furs with no apologies.

I love most furs – if you can eat it, if it’s what one might consider Vermin like some foxes and beaver, both if which have a negative impact on their environments, then why not wear it?

I do understand the argument that these animals have been farmed and mistreated while alive which is both shocking and unforgivable and should be regulated like any animal related industry from farming for food to breeding puppies for sale but should that stop us from wearing fur.

Ask yourself how kind are we being to our environment when we wear faux furs which can take hundreds of years to biodegrade because of the plastics it’s made from. Does that make you more or less moral for wearing the fake opposed to the real deal?

I have 6 fur coats and jackets, all vintage – rabbit, sable and fox and I wouldn’t give them up for the world. Maybe it’s a primal thing for me but real fur is warm, luxurious and just feels amazing on.

We may have evolved as humans when it comes to fashion but we are yet to create a material that is as good or capable of mimicing fur in a way that is environmentally friendly – bury a fur and it’s gone in months.

I say to all you nay-sayers, be gone with you. It’s time to champion fur. Why not allow those plagued by vermin the right to cull a certain quota and sell them.

If you want to eat road kill then I should have the right to wear it, you like eating rabbit, crocodile, snake and ostrich and I want to wear it.

You need to kill a few foxes that have ravaged the chicken coop, or the beaver who’s chopping down all the local trees, then I reserve the right to wear it.

Before you say it I actually love animals, all animals – I’ve got three dogs and a hamster and when they die I’d wear them if I could so they can be with me all the time. It’s a complete stereotype to assume we who love fur don’t love animals or care for their welfare but all animals will die one day.

I’m no Cruella Deville and there are animals that should never be farmed or hunted for fur, like endangered species-leopards, lions, snow foxes etc (unless they die of natural causes in front of me in which case I reserve the right to wear it), but there’s nothing wrong with a bunny especially as we eat so bloody many of them.

So next time you see me in my fur while you look me up and down in your faux fur just remember this, morally speaking with you in your environmental abomination I’m winning.

What I’m wearing has contributed positively to it’s environment during life, had all of it’s body used for food and clothing and if I ever throw it away it will disintegrate within months. Whereas your faux fur has had a negative impact on it’s environment from the beginning from being made to the moment you throw it away.

London Fashion Week: Fashion Scout

So yesterday I caugh the David Ferreira show at Fashion Scout.

Set in the stunning Freemasons Hall, The show blew me away.

Scarlet Pimpernel meets Scarlett O’Hara and Alice in Wonderland this extravagant collection is theatrical and stunning.

Far from what one might call a wearable collection -this colourful, playful collection uses eighteenth century shapes with bright reds and pinks giving it an eccentric feel.

Inspired by modern TV and Film- Gossip Girl, Scream and the Pink Ladies (Grease) with A Marie Antoinett royal flare, this young man has definitely out done himself.

David was this year Merit Award winner with his Westminister graduate collection and was introduced at this years London Fashion Week at Fashion Scout.

There was a little drama when one of the models took a Naomi Campbell tumble but got up like a trooper and carried on to a warm round of applause and our respect.

Restaurant Review: CheeMc (Korean)

Ok so I absolutely love Asian food but I am really picky as a lot of Asian food can be oily, but today I found a little gem called CheeMc.

Inexpensive Korean food that is tasty with great service in a smallish restaurant with a simple but clean decor.

The food will blow your mind. Stupidly I did not take a picture of my food as I was starving but when I say the food deserves a Michelin Star I’m not joking.

Located on Walworth Rd about 15 mins from Elephant and Castle tube and also accessable by buses 68, 171, 176, 45, 12, and 35 it is easy to get to.

A main is about £6.50 and large portions you could easily share a couple of dishes between you.
